Victim Assistance Volunteer Program

Successful applicants will be required to complete minimum 18 hour, training and orientation program. Upon completion, candidates may qualify for the V.A.V.P Burlington. Once qualified, the volunteer acting as a part of a crisis team, will respond immediately to any requests for police services, as per their selected shift times. This team will provide short term emotional support and practical assistance to victims.


The volunteers are not counsellors, they are special individuals "advocates" for families in a traumatic crisis situation. Through the commitment and dedication of our volunteers and by working together, we can greatly reduce the overall trauma to victims by providing emotional support, education and referrals to the appropriate agencies.


Once a month meeting are mandatory (2nd Tuesday evening of each month Sept-June) and volunteers must be able to sign up for 6 On-call shifts per month, which means you are available to respond if a coll-out occurs on any of your 6 shifts within 45 minutes

Annual Fund raising Event

Students can actively participate in the programs annual fund raising event "Angls N' Motion" 5k Run/Walk, which takes place in September of each year
