Who We Are
The Victim Assistance Volunteer Program (VAVP) is a volunteer-run organization providing 24/7 support to Burlington’s Ontario Provincial Police.
During shifts, our specially trained volunteers respond to crisis calls in the community. We are equipped to provide on-scene practical and emotional support to those affected by motor vehicle collisions, domestic violence, sudden death, intimate partner violence (IPV), and other traumatic events.
What Happens When We’re Called
A trained volunteer is dispatched to the scene alongside an O.P.P. Officer.
Victims are immediately offered emotional and practical support.
Volunteers remain on-scene to stabilize and assist the victim as long as needed.
Long-term resources and referrals are provided to the victim.
When appropriate, follow-up support is offered after the incident.
