Mission Statement

The Victim Assistance Volunteer Program (V.A.V.P.) Burlington is a community-based initiative that works in partnership with the Burlington Ontario Provincial Police to support individuals affected by crime and road trauma.

Our dedicated, specially trained volunteers provide compassionate, short-term emotional support and practical assistance to help victims navigate the immediate aftermath of crisis situations, including serious injuries and fatalities. We are committed to promoting safety, dignity, and resilience within our community.

Program Goals

The Victim Assistance Volunteer Program aims to:

Lessen the trauma experienced by victims and their loved ones due to traffic collisions, including coping with death, disfigurement, or long-term physical and mental impairment.
Promote community involvement in addressing the impact of motor vehicle collisions and building a network of support.
Support a collaborative police-community approach to enhance the promotion of highway safety.
Provide 24/7 support in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.), ensuring immediate coordination and assistance to victims.
Educate the public and raise awareness by participating in seminars and conferences that foster better community understanding of available victim support services.
